Sonja gave her life to Jesus at the age of 4 years old, on a rug in the kitchen floor, as she knelt and prayed to receive Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Years later she was Water Baptized in a beautiful mountain lake, as a symbolic declaration of her death to the old self and new life and oneness in Jesus Christ her Rescuer, Savior, Healer and Lord.

An encounter with the Holy Spirit changed her life! A pastor she had never met ushered the presence of God into her hospital room. He came to pray for her fourth son Logan, who lay in a medically necessary, drug induced, vegetative state in the neonatal intensive care unit, fighting for his life. In that moment that he prayed the presence of God filled the room and within two hours her son’s little body had made the changes that would insure his recovery and she had experienced a true and living God that had heard and responded to a mother’s cries.

After receiving the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, Sonja recognized the giftings in her life were placed there by God and that He had a plan and a destiny for her life. She heard the pastor use a phrase that she had never heard before in all her years in church, the phrase was
“Spiritual Warfare”, and when it penetrated her spirit she knew that she needed to know what this was all about. So the quest for the fuller, deeper, TRUTH began!
Little did she know that God was calling her not only on a hunger journey for wisdom and knowledge about the workings of His Holy Spirit, but also into her destiny!

Sonja began working as a youth leader in her church where she gained experience ministering to young men consumed in gang like activity and has continued ministering to youth for 15 years. She also worked at Hendersonville Rescue Mission as the Women’s Supervisor, where she grew in her knowledge and experience of the spiritual issues of women. Without official training or title as a counselor, many people came to her for prayer and counsel over the years and she knew that God had placed within her the call to Healing, Deliverance, and Restoration Ministry. She didn’t know how God was going to do this until one day He orchestrated a personal prophetic word, concerning her call to restoration ministry. Within the hour He led her across the path of an old friend who told her about Restoring The Foundations Ministry. She knew in that moment, as the anointing of the Holy Spirit poured over her, that this was the key to her destiny!

Sonja graduated from Restoring the Foundations International Training School in the spring of 2008 and has since been ministering to both youth and women.
As a member of the Healing House Network, she is a trained Healing and Deliverance and Issue Focus Seminar Leader.
In the Spring of 2009, she was trained and qualified as a Trainer and successfully completed her Internship as a Trainer during which time she trained and mentored people from around the world to be RTF ministers.
In the Autumn of 2009, she became a Licensed Minister and is now in preparation for future Ordination.

She ministers through her local church, Vision Jesus, and Restoring The Foundations International at Echo Mountain Inn, both in Hendersonville, NC and also in Moravian Falls, NC.

Sonja’s vision is to travel and minister RTF and train ministers around the world in order to establish Healing Houses for children, youth and adults. Sonja plans to continue to gain knowledge and experience in the area of ministering healing to those with DID and SRA backgrounds. She would like to become fluent in Spanish and minister RTF in her local bilingual church and also in Nicaragua where she spent time as a missionary.

So many years before, as the Lord resound the words “Spiritual Warfare” in her spirit, she could have never guessed what God had in store for her; all she could do was take one step at a time, as she allowed God to direct her steps.

Sonja’s passion for Jesus and her warrior spirit has led her to found His Battle Ax Ministries where “Spiritual Warfare” is led by the Holy Spirit for those that He sends her way, as Jesus Christ, the Great Healer, brings Healing to the Broken Hearted, Binds up Their Wounds and Sets the Captives Free!
